Archaeological Museum Sandanski
Archaeological Museum – Sandanski was founded in 1936 and is one of the five archaeological museums in Bulgaria, specialised in the field of ancient archaeology. It is situated over the foundations of St. John’s basillica. Inside, there is a unique collection of Roman marble gravestones (I-III c.) – the biggest in Bulgaria, rarely seen in Europe and typical only for this region. It was gathered for a period of 80 years from all the settlements in the municipality.
